It's served from the website as Content-Type: text/xml and the filename extensions are .xml. I don't know how a Mac manages these things ?

That's fine. It's just that at the moment the Mac is in transition between
two different systems for identifying the type of files, and which program
"owns" a particular file. Safari makes no concession to the older way of
doing things, and in some respects BarFly hasn't yet caught up.
