Now a days, if you purchase a pc or laptop with genuin windows, no license key will be given to the customers. These windows are activated in motherboard, so you even can't find your activation key. if you go for fresh installation of windows, you need not to give your license key not even once. Company will provide your license key only in case of damaging of your motherboard. ----- Original Message ----- From: <shahid.se...@gmail.com>

Subject: RE: [AI] Seeking Guidance Regarding my HP Laptop Issue-

How do I check whether my product key is registered in my Microsoft account?
Each time when I activated my copy of windows I would have to provide the product key. Indeed I did activate for the first time after linking my PC in to my Microsoft account. Does unlinking device from the Microsoft account also deactivate our license from the account as well? If I wish to give my laptop is it enough if I unlink my PC from the Microsoft account?
Thanks,
Ali

Hi Kriti, hope you would be doing great.
As suggested by other experienced members, I would suggest the same but a slightly different way. 1) Go for A back of each and everything that you believe you don’t want to lose.
2) Make sure you have a backup of the windows license key if your
laptop came with a license key, usually this remains in your bios and won’t go away even you format your hard disk, you can also see whether your windows key is there in your Microsoft account or not.
3) Made bootable windows installation DVD/us drive,
4) Complete erase and re-partition of the hard disk and install
windows and only the required drivers with all the updates.
I had same experiences with my Sony and dell laptops. And could only resolved after doing this. As far as part replacement is concerned, then usually the certified service center people don’t do this, but if you have problems with the system, get it replaced with them.

Dear Access Indians,

As the subject suggests, I am facing an issue with my HP laptop.

I bought this laptop around a year ago, and it was giving me a battery
backup of minimum of 5-6 hours.

Recently I noticed that the battery started draining very quickly, and
even the charging became very rapid. Concerning the same, I lodged a
complaint with HP Customer Care. Following the same, an Engineer came
to my place and after checking my laptop, he updated my Bios, saying
that ‘This issue was because of the older version of the Bios’. But
even after that, the battery issue remained the same.

Lastly after all this, he said that, ‘There is no other option, than
to take your laptop to the service center, to check all the possible errors’.
To which I agreed, and he took my laptop for 2 days.

Now after 2 days I got my laptop back, but with the same battery
issue, stating that, your windows needs to be recovered.

Now, I am looking for your guidance regarding 2 of my concerns-

1. I am feeling skeptical that, if my hardware has been tampered
with? So, is there any way out to check whether my hardware is original?

2. Shall I opt for windows recovery? Isn’t there any other solution
than this? Because according to them, my laptop’s hardware is
perfectly fine, and there are some resource files running because of
which battery is draining badly.

Hoping for a quick response.

Thanks and Regards,

Kriti Banga
