The recorded videos are absolutely stunning. I don't do over the air. My USB tuner can pick up QAM signal from my cable box. So I don't experience any drop out. The good thing is those signal already is in MPEG2 format. So there is no need to encode like the old analog TV tuner card. It's just merely a digital copy.
I think Bluray can be both MPEg-2 and H.264. Do you know if you are connecting your HD camcorder to your TV through SVideo, it is indeed in SD signal? Your camcorder probably downconvert to SD on the fly for the output. You will need to try to connect through Component cable or HDMI. Is it as good as cabled? Any dropouts? I suppose that's just for stations like ABC,FOX, etc. that are stations broadcasting if HD along with their SD signals. Are there just a few signals or hundreds? > I have no idea what formats TV stations are looking for these days > for high-def footage, so I can't help there. Something they can just pop, play and record from... like a DVD. Another option could be to just record the final edited show episode back to the same HDV camera I recorded the show on. That way it would be 1080i/60i/480/HDV. Does that sound plausible? I can play it back to my 46" HDTV through the SVideo cable. I suppose they would except HDV tape if it meant the highest quality show. I could send them a data file but would they then need Premiere Pro? I'm not sure if just a MPEG-2 file would do the trick. My Sony 46w3000 (46" HDTV) also has a PC video monitor "in". I might just send the signal right out of the computer/Premier Pro into the HDTV to see what it looks like. Right now I'm just trying to get the best version of the show I can in Premier Pro. My next step can be to figure out how to transport it to the broadcast station. In searching, a Blu-Ray writer that can also read DVDs is around $500.00. Not bad if you're making money with it. Any comments are appreciated.
