If something comes up missing, can you get in and poll it?

I've had mine for a couple of years. I'm happy. Keep in mind the up front
charge covers all the data for the next few years, too. At $0/mo I'm much
happier.

The way the units are built I'm not feeling like they were intended for a
battery replacement but once it's dead there's no reason not to pop it open and
see what you can do.

It's reporting once a day and that's what makes the battery last so long. Once
you know there's a problem, you can enable constant monitoring (which could
start anywhere from 1 minute to 24 hours).

The airtags test was a flop. I put one on my son’s truck without him
knowing. It would occasionally report a location while on a busy street or
highway but most of the time no. He does not use an iphone so it was a good
test.

The lack of reporting in frequently along with the lack of history of the
locations make them unusable for tracking equipment for the purpose of finding
it when it is missing.

Interested in the thing Paul Dowling is working on.

gpsandfleet.com is pretty spendy. Can you replace the battery?

There's a guy on YouTube who mailed airtags to n Korea and several other
places just to track them for a video, pretty interesting. They seem to work
pretty good, dare I say almost as good as a cellular tracker?

    For trailers and stuff? I use gpsandfleet.com - it's a $250 one time
purchase and works until the battery dies. Do a 1 poll/day cycle and it's 3-5
years.

I have a cellular/GPS asset tracker coming out in a few months. Chuck,
happy to let you test it out NC.

I realize it is such a small amount of data but that is a pretty
sneaky way of getting a free ride.

The phones will pickup the Bluetooth beacon and relay the phone’s gps
to the tracking service.

Basically a GPS by proxy on behalf of the tracking token.

It relies on random folks wandering by and the Bluetooth token
snagging enough “air time” to report home.

Being lazy and not wanting to do the research.

How do the air tags work. In other words, how do they get
connectivity to the world. Most of the stuff I have read talks about blue
tooth but that isnt worth anything over distance.

I rent out some construction equipment and I am thinking of putting
them on the equipment. But I need a better understanding.
