768 kiloBYTES per second sounds fine to me.

Yep, this comment on the Business insider article is a good example:
"You want to hear a true nightmare. I pay $47 for 768Kps (Yes that's
kilobytes per second) through ATT for "DSL light". It is literally the
only carrier here where I live and they know it. When I called to get
it lower, they just threatened with the fact that if I quit their
service I may never get it back because there is a waiting list for my
port. It is extortion and theft at it's finest. The best part is that
I was with ATT when I lived in ATL and I paid $30 a month for 24MPS
U-Verse. I am fumed but I have no option and they know it."

Yep, everyone in the media knows bandwidth costs just pennies, and
ISPs have no other costs, so you are obviously just taking
advantage of the fact you have no competition to gouge your

Yeah... I'm kind of surprised he didn't say anything about us. We
should have 25/3 service available less than a mile from him -
except unlike Charter and Frontier, he's too close to town. of
course he probably wouldn't be too pleased with the price for that
service ;)

Turns out he actually did contact us awhile back. We do
have a tower a few miles away, but there are some terrain
issues that put him just outside our coverage.

To be fair he did actually call Charter before he
built the house, and they told him service was
available... unlike a lot of people who will just
build or buy a house out in the middle of nowhere and
then be completely shocked when cable isn't available.
What bothers me here is the fact that he does have DSL
- and 3/1 really isn't that bad... I have 4m/512k DSL
at home (outside of our coverage area), and there are
very few things that don't work perfectly fine.

point blame at others for not doing the research. Also
could think it was false advertising and trusting the ISP.
You and I would have researched it a little more but
the average public will not think of such things.
They'll think of the color of their tile floors, and
countertops before they'll think of internet connection.

I can confidently say from past experience with this
type of customer that we do not want him.
Yes it would be great to get some PR, but this
customer will be nothing but a problem. He will
constantly complain about anything and everything and
will jump ship at the very first opportunity that he
can switch to something with a lower price per month.
Notice he holds up his Charter ad with $29.99 per
month displayed. It doesn't matter that he would have
to pay $117k to get that price (and also pay for 2
other services with a total bill of $100-250 per
month), he will complain constantly that the price is
higher than $29.99.
It never fails that the ones that beg the loudest and
convince you to go out of your way for them ALWAYS
come back to bite you and are the loudest complainers
about everything.

Rise above the douchebaggery and focus on the issue.
We want to be the hero. Collect the rewards of making
WISPs as viable alternatives in these situations.
It'll grow our industry.
