ok, I was thinking between output area and button bar, anywhere else (below button bar or above/below status bar) would seem 'misplaced'.. I would vote for above buttonbar, but you did mention the statusbar, so maybe others see it better like you, we'll vote for it later, for now, let's gather up all the suggestions
