I am not trying to convince you of anything -- I am merely recording these points for future readers of this thread, lest people get confused. You don't have to pay to distribute Android apps. You do have to pay to distribute Android apps in the Android Market. There are a dozen or so different markets, each with their own terms, some of which have no up-front fee. And you can distribute your application from your own Web site without having to deal with any market whatsoever. With the Android Market, what you are paying for, in effect, is advertising. Your app gets included in an on-device catalog that is "distributed" to all Android users, plus (eventually) handling payment processing for non-free apps. For as long as that catalog is not too big as to be un-navigable, a flat $25 is most likely a bargain in terms of advertising. -- Mark Murphy (a Commons Guy) http://commonsware.com _The Busy Coder's Guide to Android Development_ Version 1.3 Published! --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
