For that matter, assuming other developers decide that paying for the privileged of giving back to the community is asking a bit much, what advantage is that to the user who will now have to look at several different locations if they want to make sure that there isn't a free app as good or better than the one in Android Market? Again, if I were selling an app, I agree that $25 would be rather inexpensive advertising.
