In general yes but not impossible as something can be free and supported. There could be feature request payments, support contracts (ubuntu - canonical, redhat), donations. For example I've never personally paid for an Operating System for a desktop though my parents bought dos 3.1 95 98, 2000 and XP that I used before my unix days. I can download OpenBSD for free and yet I've personally bought cds and donated to the OpenBSD project. Similar to piracy, anyone can download music yet the music industry is still a billion dollar industry. Advertising is in general a good thing. Some advertisers are dispicable, some advertisers do dumb and careless things like MITM proxies but aren't intentionally evil. Some objectors to advertising are just picking up on other legitimate distain and others may just be odd socially and others have perfectly acceptable/legitimate reasons or atleast concerns. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
