Mountain View California has free Wi-Fi. Provided by Google.

Amy Handlin (then Freeholder, now Assemblywoman) came to AP a few 
years back with a plan to make all of downtown AP a free hotspot as 
a way to attract business.

Don't know what ever happened to the plan.
