Michael,

My altweb needs root permissions that is run under HTTPS.

Just to try altweb out, set:
HTTPSDIR="/mnt/kd/altweb"

and reboot (some browsers might need to have their cache cleared).

See if you like it.  Before you click "Save Settings" in the Network  
tab, but sure you have read previous posts in this thread about using  
the /mnt/kd/rc.conf.d directory for the config, as altweb does.
