It is so hard -- so hard -- for an actual scientist to read this. 
Regarding the quotation above: of course, it is a good, if in some
points debatable, take on the history of science.  However, some things
are simply true: the Moon goes around the Earth, the Earth goes around
the Sun, 2+2=four, etc.  This includes other minor facts, including the
fact that humans have a hard time discerning db differences in degrees
smaller than 1/3 octave -- which is why, no coincidence, graphic EQs
use 1/3 octave bands.  Naturally, you can get more precise with
parametric systems, and that is a good thing, but I digress.  The real
point is that the basic mechanics of how a speaker produces sound are
well known and understand -- thinking that quantum-level interactions
are significant part of it is just nonsense or pseudo-new-age-whatever.
