I have no direct experience, but moot a couple of caveats:

- 300GB is probably not enough, if you use FLACs.  I would check with
them to ensure that the HD can be changed

- How easy can it be to change the tags?  My brother-in-law has a Sony
machine that ripped all his music in (to ATRAC, I think), nice and
automatic.  It works, but he has no easy way to change the tags how he
wants them.  This is fine for pop music, but a nightmare for
classical.

So the overall point is that this 'easier' solution (that the
Transporter, say) may not be as good a long-term solution.

My general comments about McIntosh is that it's good equipment, both
sonically and build-wise, but not cheap.  You don't go too far wrong
with their stuff, but (certainly in the UK) you can get better value.
