There's a slim (oops!) possibility the DAC's might be the cause - I use
the same model DAC and can't hear this effect. But I have other devices
between SB and DAC...

You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it
ain't what you'd call minimal...

...SB3+TACT+Altmann+MF DACXV3/Linn tri-amped Aktiv 5.1 system and some
very expensive cables ;o)
