So I'm not the only one seeing parallels between audiophilia and "alternative" medicine .
The current fad is for Antroposofes or thier ilk to try to make parents not inoculate their kids against measles etc , practically conspiring to spread pandemics . Tried some ear candles lately ? The lack of scientific methods in audiophile product development "only" leads to people spending to much money on nonsense products, actual audio quality is in some cases going down to cater for some beliefs that must be satisfied, example dht triode amps at 3wpc. There are literary thousands of misconceptions that have been developed this way by sighted "testing" of nonsense to incorporate in products or create disinformation on the net. What about addition different wall outlets for sound quality ;) he he. But I think the implications are a bit more serious , audiophilia is to similar to harmfull cults to be neglected as a harmless affliction . It has bad effects on personal economy and relationships . Your wife would be 100% correct to think you are an idiot spending 1000$ on a signal cable instead of improving the house, buy a holiday or something for the kids etc. But most audiophile nonsense does not nead advanced dbt setups to be debunked, normal EE skills and some critical thinking would do just fine. In the end it is a loss for the audiophiles if products where designed with actual engineering and in general good concepts, they would be cheaper and perform better . More people could afford to listen high quality music playback actually feeding the interest for well recorded good music . I think the Touch and Transporter are such products . I do believe that society in general have far to much pseudo science and fud going on .
