My position would be a simple shrug of the shoulders since I see no need to modify the Touch to use the Touch's USB input as an output so that I can play 24bit/196kHz files, that is until someone develops a way to transplant a bat hearing organs into to a human so that we can hear above 25kHz (hey I'm even giving you the benefit of an extra 5kHz of high end hearing capability). As I stated earlier, while it has not been openly stated the only reason one would need a regen and a SB Touch (since it's the only squeezebox device with any USB connection) is if one used the USB input on the Touch as an output and the only reason to use the USB input on the Touch as an output is to gain the ability to play 24bit/196kHz files, which as far as I've heard with my own ears, is pointless audiophile nonsense. Now if one was not using a squeezebox device and was instead using the USB output of a computer or laptop to feed a USB DAC then I really do understand why the regen, should it prove to improve the sound, would be of interest. I suspect that this why many us have even bothered to follow and/or participate in this thread.
