I likes the blog post , but I to actually thinks that there is no need for 100kHz sample rates in consumer derivera formats .I'm even more convinced now since I tried your test way back and also did some of my own test files .
One of the of topic in the comments is about the need for a better DSD file format . I have a better idea there is no need for DSD as a consumer delivery format at all :) and it is solved in practice ,there is hardly any DSD only content worth listening to ( most music is aviable in good non DSD formats ). And a good point you implicitly make is that actually developing products with sighted subjective testing as the main developing tool is doomed to failure . The link to that CA post about a dude just trying to tune a cross over by ear only is telling . And there are whole product lines developed on superstition and cognitive bias and ofcourse reviewed without any measurement whatsoever by TAS or 6 moon . I good reason for more objective science in audiophile circles is to actually produce better products ! In practice weed out the weird ones One of my personal fools errand in all discussion here is to get more people to understand how much product development is crippled by the audiophile mindset . Even working good products with sensible measured data can have elements of cargo cult designs to them . The products we can choose from are for this reason in many cases both expensive and anachronistic . +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Filename: image.jpeg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=18937| +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
