The year should be written 1982 B.J.A., as in Before John Atkinson Think of Atkinson as one would someone like Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the National Football League, in that he is not there for the good of the sport but rather for the good of the team owners, which means that his job is to increase revenue at all costs. In Atkinson's case the team owners are the advertisers and while Goodell is doing a very good for the owners, JA is doing a terrible job for the advertisers. What Stereophile needs is a complete reboot but that's not going to happen and within a few years Stereophile will be history.
