it depends on why it is better...

the question is whom we want to inconvenience more.  if it's the currrent
and future maintainers and hackers of bbdb, then leave the old name.  this
will create confusion because similar functions will have dissimilar
names.  if we want to inconvenience those who are already familiar with
the code or those that use unmaintained code, then change the name.  they
will be confused until they upgrade the old component.  i think this is ok
as long as it doesn't inconvenience many people, such as conflicting with
major software like gnus or mail apps.

my vote is to make things easier for the future coders, rather than
support old code, which will be diminishing as things get upgraded anyway.
