As I keep most "often used" applications running at all times (and
this
includes BBEdit),
You're not alone. Most of the icons on the lefthand side of my Dock
have black arrows beneath them. Apparently, this is not a Bare Bones-
approved style of work. The Bare Bones license enforcement scheme
requires you to work only the way THEY want. And the fact that they
don't tell you this before you buy is what bugs me the most about it.
I find these network based copy protection schemes
highly annoying, and I suspect that most of those who actually *do*
pirate software will simply get a serial number from the Internet
to get
around the problem. The only ones being inconvenienced here are the
honest customers.
The solution is either not to be honest or not to be a customer.
I'm kind of surprised that Bare Bones Software would do something
annoying like this.
Historically, Bare Bones has been a cool company. I hope they'll come
to their senses on this one.
