According to the source control servers, we've shipping this code

It was never a hardship until recently. But now it's the principle
of the thing. I paid for a "single user license" and now found out
that what I really bought was a two-machine license.
You're right. It's the principle of the thing. A single user license,
by logical reference, means that the application should be usable by
one person on one machine at a time. The fact that Bare Bones goes
beyond that, allowing two machines but not a third, is clearly ...um,
actually, that seems pretty generous. Huh.
But I do agree with you that we are moving to an age where a "home
license," as opposed to a single license, makes a lot of sense to
have. Apple has a "Family Pack" for their OS X licensing, allowing 5
machines to be installed, and that seems like a reasonable limit that
falls sensibly between the single license and the network/work type
license. The limit of 5 machines is also used for iTunes Music Store
purchases. That does make sense.
What doesn't make sense, to me at least, is confusing a single user
license with a home/family license.
