I am a tad late to joining this discussion, but I have something that
I would like to add.

I have had combo U-Locks and when compared to a Keyed U-Lock of
equivalent quality, they are no more, or less secure. The one problem
I did encounter was that the tumblers used in the combo device could
be broken. This can become a real pain. Because now the only method
you have of opening the lock is to break, or cut it yourself. Which
may/will draw attention to yourself. Then you have to prove to local
law enforcement that this is indeed your bike. "No really Officer, I
am trying to steal my own bike".

Just make sure the tumblers that the numbers are stamped into are of
good quality.
