Primary reason to use a lock: "Locks only keep honest people honest." Secondary reason to use a good U lock: "So the thief steals someone else's bike instead of mine" Generally combo locks break easily, especially compared to U locks. If you are in a keep honest people honest area they work fine, but if you are in thief deterrence land, then get a good U lock with a key.
