Greetings: The activity at the wetland is continuing to rise. Gracie and
George (the Osprey) have returned and are doing some renovating.

BCW Permit $5.00 for 203 days = $.0246/day
Nonquon Sewage Lagoons $5.00 for 153 days = $0.0327/day
Presqu'ile Provoncial Park - $10.00 per visit or $140.00 for 365 days =
$0.3846/day
Six month after requesting information regarding birding at sewage lagoons I
had completed
my report to Jim Phillips, P. Eng, Municipality of Brighton. It was accepted
as written. Tiny and I presented the report to the Committee of the Whole,
where it was again accepted. I received permit number 001 from the Wastewater
Manager February 16, 2010. Yes, received, in recognition for all the work I
had done on behalf of the wetland. I did have my $5.00 in hand when I went to
get the first permit and was told it was already taken care of. Rod purchased
his at the same time. A side note - the preparation of the report was not done
without a rather substantial cost to me. I did not complain or ask anyone to
contribute funds to help cover the cost. The cost of 240 pictures (10 folders
- 24 pictures each) for each member of the Committee of the Whole from the
wetland was covered by Keith Lee, Rod Lee and myself.
Keith (Tiny) Lee - Wastewater Manager has ALSO purchased a permit to the
wetland. He did not want anyone accusing him of taking advantage of his
position.
To date nearly 100 permits have been issued by the Municipality of Brighton.
I am aware that people can enter Presqu'ile without paying - simply walk
through the main entrance. Others access the park by private property.
If anyone enters the wetland without a permit, you will jeopardize access to
those of us who have a permit. This could very well result in the wetland
being completely closed to the public.
It is quite annoying when people ask for free access to the wetland. Many have
purchased their permits - do likewise.
Most sincerely
Maureen Campeau-Bowen
The wetland is located at #71 County Road 64 in the Muncipality of Brighton.
