First I would like to thank everyone who has sent information. I will do a
follow-up
within the next couple of days. I hope to have a report ready for the Public
Works
Department with 4 - 6 weeks.

The report comes on behalf of Tiny (Keith Lee).

Another lovely morning at the Brighton Constructed Wetland. It is just
wonderful to
see all the new visitors as well as the regulars. This morning Junior
(the male juvenile Osprey) was on the nest, crying like his sister. We think
that the
adults may be taking one at a time out fishing. Who knows for sure!

Now the good stuff: Northern Harrier, Lesser Yellowlegs, Mallard, Moorhen
(many still with young), Least Sandpipers, Wood Ducks, Mute Swan family,
Blue-winged Teal, Catbird, Spotted Sandpiper, Red-eyed Vireo, Cedar Waxwing,
Baltimore Oriole, Northern Shoveller, Turkey Vulture, Marsh Wren
(although numbers are decreasing very quickly), Gadwall, Solitary Sandpipers,
Semi-palmated Sandpipers, Greater Yellowlegs, Killdeer, Virginia Rail
(juvenile - nice one),
Sora, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Red-winged Blackbirds, Canada Geese,
Song Sparrow, American Goldfinch, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Great Blue Heron.

Tiny mentioned that there had been 2 Trumpeter Swans in the Wetland yesterday
for a few minutes. Was one of them Oscar? If so, will they return next Spring?
We certainly hope so!

Maureen
The Wetland is located exactly 7.2 kilometres south from exit 509 off eastbound
401.
Follow the road through Brighton. The wetland is located on the right handside
of
County Road 64 as you are leaving Brighton.
