Greetings: This report comes on behalf of Tiny (Keith Lee). Earlier in the season I reported all the "babies" born at the Wetland. The little ones ranged in size from our two Osprey down to the very vocal and exquisite Marsh Wren. The Wetland was alive with sounds from the birds, to the frogs and the wind through the trees as well as the hum of insects.
Now I can tell you that the Wetland is just "busting" with juvenile Sora and Virginia Rail. What a treat to see how many have survived to prepare for migration. Permit Update: I have a lot in information now and am putting the final touch on everything that Tiny and I will present to his boss in early October. The bird count is ongoing and very impressive. Geoff Carpentier suggested dragonfly and flower counts as well. Rod Lee has almost completed tabulating the flowers and a local man will do the dragonflies, butterflies and frogs. I would like to ask everyone who has visited the Wetland to send me their comments. Whether they are positive or negative, I will submit them to the Jim Phillips. (I will remove all email addresses - they are after all your property). Once again, Tiny and I thank the more than 600 individuals who have visited the Wetland so far this season. Most sincerely Maureen and Tiny The Wetland is located exactly 7.2 kilometres south of Highway 401 at exit 509. Just follow the road right around through town. The wetland is located on the right side of the road as you come around a sweeping bend on County Road 64. _________________________________________________________________ Click less, chat more: Messenger on MSN.ca http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9677404_______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
