Hi Karl,
Yes, but that leaves some huge open ends. That leaves me totally
dependant on that other person for the debugging and design of the
levels. In the end it would not be me doing the work but that other person.
Second, that doesn't help any of the problems with the engine such as
the multi-perspective audio which has huge proformence hits when loading
levels, etc.
Third, I would like to have game controllers in the game, and it is
allot easier to add them using DX 9 than DX 8.
Finally, I am already working on security for STFC which is for any .NET
ap I write. The old Monty engine is VB 6 and I would need to start from
scratch to secure it.
In the end with all the issues layed out like that you can see that a
complete new engine is in order. I really believe long-term this is the
best future for Monty.
All I am asking for from the comunity is patients and time for me to
complete the new engine without being compared to James North, being
accused of stalling, etc. I am not like that and if I didn't believe
this wasn't necessary for the game I would not do it. The mere fact I am
telling you what I am doing hopefully shows my honesty, and the fact I
am trying to be up front with what I am doing.
