Hi,
Oh, you will see it and probably sooner than you think. In three days of
solid work I have written an initial audio class to handle DirectX
DirectSound, wrote the classes for characters, monsters, players, and
temples. Classes are what store the values and data for those items by
the way.
In adition, I have started in to the menus, and I have the startup menu
in, and working.
I am currently working on the information angle of the speech engine
like speak gold and gems, health and lives, coordinates, direction
facing, etc... That will likely be in by the end of the day. So I don't
think this new engine will take all that long to complete. Just depends
on how long it takes me to do it all, test it, and release an updated demo.
One of the more complicated aspects I am working on and will slow things
is my collision detection logic. I need to make sure that it tracks what
is in front of, below, above, and near the character. I didn't realise
until I started on this thing how many things it really has to keep
track of. Sheesh.
