Jord

You and I have been around Seti (and Boinc) for a lot of years.

I have always found it very impressive as to how much "you" have contributed
to both Seti and Boinc. Written documentation both at Seti, Boinc and other
locations (your wiki efforts). Explanations that make sense. There are few
people that have contributed as much and ask for so little credit for the
effort. Your efforts at Seti in the Q&A has probably made some measurable
positive impact on the churn rate of new (old) users. Applause!

So lest we forget the "Fun Times" at Seti such as the Credit Wars, the
PomPom wars, Bonfires seen from Space (sorry that can touch a few nerves or
memories) and as you say every couple of weeks someone asks "What are
Credits For?" There is both good and bad, pick your project. I will leave
other things unsaid. Your efforts, are part of what helped to move Seti past
many difficult times. So yes, at times it seems that we are traveling in a
circle. Technology lately has made the circle larger, we are still not sure
how large that circle is... From my perspective things will get worse before
they stabilize. We all will then do what we have to.

So for a person that I met years ago on the Internet, I count you as a
friend! There are conversation that you and I have had privately that have
helped me. Thank You!

Whatever you decide is fine with me, a break is a break. It allows for a
fresh perspective on life no matter what the problem may be.

Note: Some Project Scientist should be aware that Jord's efforts in
documentation have made your life easier for your users... He is one of the
few people that can describe the "animal" and help tame it. Or provide
feedback into Boinc Dev that gets results. Or you now have to be more
proactive from a user standpoint to get things fixed that falls outside your
respective science.

It's been over a week since I stopped all BOINC activities and have
been thinking about my future with the program.

BOINC used to be a program with which you used the spare cycles of
your CPU to help and better science. These days it's only about
credits. Just go to any project forum and check the threads.

Take care everyone,
