Ah, but it is so easy to whip mobs into a murderous frenzy. At least in some parts of the world, including my own. And then these mobs do things which are incomprehensively gruesome. Babies are butchered, pregnant women's bellies are eviscerated as they watch on in horror, men are castrated.... Religion and nationalism are indeed some of the most convenient tools used to this end but the bestiality which takes over seems like nothing more than a glimpse of the worst our species is capable of.
