When i worked at the Canaltime operation at Sawley, we took each crew
through the locking procedure separately, as each party would arrive
at a different time, get the boat loaded and watch the video before
the practical instruction. Thus there was never more than one crew at
the lock at any one time (though we did have to queue up at times to
use it).

I only ever felt the need to go to Derwent Mouth Lock once - with a
party of Israelis whose grasp of English was only just adequate.
