Yes, the passing years can make a difference, but also the amount of time spent boating does. We find that now we can spend several weeks a year boating, we're less inclined to try to squeeze every last mile out of our trips. But the proposed trip does seem to be pushing it, especially two handed. Cutting out the Four Counties would certainly make for a much easier trip, but as Bob says, it's not our holiday, so who are we to judge? Mind you, the hire company might have their own thoughts...
