You only need to open one gate on Hatton when entering and 
leaving the locks.  After the first boat enters have them slide over 
and back to the gate and the second boat enters and occupies the 
empty space.  Leaving the lock is easy.  Also if you really what to 
speed up the flight The steer of the second boat can upon entering 
the lock put the boat in neutral and taking the center rope step off 
the boat and climb up the steps, stop the boat and then close the 
gate while the other crew member begins filling or emptying the lock.
