Rather the revese, I believe. It sold of such dreadfully inefficient outfits as air lines, the phone system, electricity distributors, etc., all of which are now rather profitable. (Can you name any of these 1970 wonders you refer to above?) I think that's the trick. Businesses have to report to their shareholders whether they have made or lost money, and their bosses tend to get canned if money is lost. There is no equivalent discipline on Ministers.
