OK being really picky.

Its about 1.3hp per kW
Now if you have a 100amp 12v alternator that's 1200w or 1.6hp
If you are running the travel power for normal domestic use then the power 
used from the engine is minimal, even a tumble dryer at 2.2kw will consume 
less that 3hp from the engine.

It is just not possible to load a normal 40-50hp boat engine using a travel 
power or an alternator.  Yes you can run these items when moving the boat 
using spare capacity from the main engine but I would advise against relying 
on their use long term for generating electricity when stationary.
