December 19 , 2011

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)
------------

     12/21: SHORT-EARED OWLS were seen at two locations. One was in the fields 
in back of the Montezuma winery at the corner of Rts. 5/20 and Rt. 89. The 
other was in the backe section (restricted) of Tschache Pool.
     12/22: A NORTHERN SHRIKE continues to be seen on VanDyne Spoor Road.


Onondaga County
--------------
 
     12/19: A NORTHERN SHRIKE was again seen at Three Rivers wma on 60 Road 
north of Baldwinsville. He is seen in the fields across from the Eagle viewing 
platform and was observed multiple times this week.
     12/20: A MERLIN was seen at the corner of West Sorrell Hill and Conner’s 
Road in the Town of Van Buren.
     12/25: 2 NORTHERN HARRIERS were seen along with RED-TAILED HAWKS in fields 
on Maple Road in the Town of Clay south of Rt. 31.


Oswego County
------------

     12/23: A WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW was found along Lake Ontario between Port 
Ontario and Derby Hill. No specific location was given.
     12/25: 9 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were seen on the White Trail at Great Bear 
Recreation Area north of Phoenix.
