October 24 , 2011

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)
------------

     10/27: This was the last positive report of the AMERICAN AVOCET at 
Puddler’s Marsh.
     10/28:A HUDSONIAN GODWIT was relocated at the Visitor’s Center. It has 
remained all week and was reported today again. 5 SANDHILL CRANES were observed 
from East Road.
     10/29: A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen flying at Knox-Marsellus Marsh. A GREATER 
WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was found at Knox-Marsellus and May’s Point Pool. A ROSS’S 
GOOSE was seen in Puddler’s Marsh.LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER, PECTORAL SANDPIPER and 
numerous DUNLIN were seen at the Visitor’s Center.


Oswego County
------------

     10/26: 7 PARASITIC JAEGERS, 5 BLACK-LEGGED KITTYWAKES, a RED PHALAROPE, 
and a LITTLE GULL were all seen at Derby Hill.
     10/30: A late AMERICAN BITTERN was seen at the wet area on Co. Rt. 6 north 
of Co. Rt. 3 in the Town of Volnay. A FOS ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen west of 
Oswego on Rt. 104A.


Onondaga County
------------

     10/27: A large flock of BRANT was seen flying over the Warners area. Since 
then then they have been seen at Fair Haven and Oswego. An ORANGE-CROWNED 
WARBLER was found off 60 R. in the Three Rivers WMA north of Baldwinsville.
     10/28: A YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was found on Potter Road at the THREE 
RIVERS WMA.


Extralimital
------------
     10/30: A YELLOW-BILLED LOON was seen flying west on Lake Ontario from 
Broadway Road in the Town of Walcott, Wayne County. No new reports have been 
submitted.
