Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)

     12/14: A YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was seen on Mays Point Road.

     12/17: 4 COMMON GRACKLES, a MARSH WREN and a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE 
were all found from East Road. A MARSH WREN was seen on Carncross Road.

     12/20: A MARSH WREN was seen at Guy Baldassarre Marsh. 5 YELLOW-RUMPED 
WARBLERS were seen at the Morgan Road Marshes.







Onondaga County

------------




     12/15: 1 WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW was seen at the Marshy Spits on the west 
side of Onondaga Lake south of the Honeywell Center.

     12/16: A CHIPPING SPARROW was seen on Jamesville Ave in Syracuse.

     12/18: The Syracuse Christmas Count, held this day netted 84 species. The 
most unique bird found was a female PINE GROSBEAK at the Dicc Golf area of 
Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville. It was relocated again today. Other 
interesting species found were HERMIT THRUSH, GRAY CATBIRD, PINE SISKIN, PINE 
SISKIN and NORTHERN SHRIKE, all of which were seen at Green lakes except the 
GRAY CATBIRD which was found nearby at the Erie Canal Trail at the east end of 
Rt. 290.

     12/19: A SNOWY OWL was found in the Brown Lot of the New York State Fair 
grounds.







Oswego County

------------




     12/14: A DUNLIN and a RED-THROATED LOON were seen at the Sandy Pond outlet 
on Lake Ontario.

     12/15: A COMMON GRACKLE was seen on Hinman Road north of Pulaski.

     12/19: on the Oswego Christmas Count 64 species were seen. Highlights were 
GRAY CATBIRD, NORTHERN PINTAIL, HERMIT THRUSH, SONG SPARROW and SWAMP SPARROW.







Madison County

     12/15: A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen at Ditchbank Road north of Canastota.

     12/16: 4 GREEN-WINGED TEAL were seen at Ditchbank Road.

     12/18: 6 WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS were seen at a private residence on Rt. 31 
east of Rt. 13.







Oneida County

------------




      12/17: A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen at Verona Beach State Park on 
Oneida lake.

     12/18: A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen at Utica Marsh. A FISH CROW was heard 
on Belle Ave. in Utica.







Herkimer County

------------




     12/14: 2 RED CROSSBILLS were found at the entrance to Third Lake trail on 
the south side of Fourth Lake.
