It's quite customary for volunteer witnesses to be given a guarantee
of immunity in exchange for their testimony. In fact, it's usually
assumed. No volunteer who understands the process, however, would
ever want to testify in front of a grand jury, much less twice.

This is because you open yourself up to inconsistent testimony. So
ideally you never testify, but you definitely don't want to testify
twice (unless you're given immunity). When you're asked back to
re-testify it's customary for the special counsel to inform you of
your immunity status. It's his way of saying, "hey, if you don't have
immunity, and you don't, you're really really stupid to come back."

Rove is not just going back without immunity, he's going back for a
4th time without immunity. That's *really* risky on his part.
Further, he's going back at the request of the special counsel *after*
that counsel has heard from a new witness. In this case a witness
that had previously refused to testify.

If there was ever a case of "don't do it!" this is it. The fact that
Rove is going back says one of 2 things:

1.) Either he's completely innocent and knows he can prove it beyond a
shadow of a doubt, or
2.) He knows there's enough to indict him and wants to do everything
possible to avoid the indictment even if it means risking
contradictory testimony.

As to the Whitehouse, it's a fact that they flatly denied Rove had
anything to do with case. By his own testimony that is not true.

Face it dude, the guy is guilty. If he weren't he wouldn't be going
back for a 4th time to testify.
