Or any other country. The trick is that someone will go in front of congress
and say, "Well, if you don't give me the (gobs of) money, and someone does
pull off a missile attack, even if it is just one missile, it's your fault."
Congress will cave. No questions like, "Well, why can't we do a better job
of gathering intelligence?" or "is there a cheaper, more effective way to do
this?"

Of course, if we are never attacked, well...

How much money is spent on the military every year and for what? Half-baked
wars that are not even real wars. Ugh. Everything costs money, a lot of it.
