Tim, Between 1980 and 1992 the US funded pre Taliban and Taliban forces between 4 - 5 billion. The US backing of the Northern Alliance was in this decade, when the Taliban were in power.
So please before you accuse me of not knowing my facts, how about you study yours. And the invasion of Iraq has everything to do with the post 9/11 situation.
