And you and I both know, in the current American climate, that is not
going to happen.

So, either you need to change the dynamic (make the American people
angry and fearful enough to SMASH), or you need to change the tactics.

More of the same is not working.

If we pulled all of the troops out of Germany, Japan, and South Korea,
and sent them in, maybe we could affect something.

But with the numbers we are talking about for the troop buildup
currently planned, we cannot tip this one, I do not believe.

I still think Murtha had the right plan.

Pull our people back and out (to the desert, to nearby countries), and
go into fast reaction mode again. Don't attack when they lure us or
expect us, attack when _we_ want. Remember, in the end, this is a
hearts and minds and a ground occupation war. Let's let the bad guys
play defense for a while. If this is really a long-term fight, who
holds a particluar corner today is only important to the people
standing on that corner.
