No, dude! You learned "Extended BASIC"! Much better than normal,
non-extended basic!

The only video game I ever wrote to completion was in Extended Basic on a
TI-99/4A.

You played a janitorial robot in a building. The story was that you went
out every night and collected garbage. But the building people put in a new
security system and forgot about you! So now you had to go along the floor
and dodge the sensors by shutting down when they passed over you... but if
you shut down too long you'd lose all power and couldn't power back up!

So you ran along these isometric levels and hit a key when the security
devices flew over. Along the way you'd empty trash cans.

I made three levels (each level had four "floors" of the building). When
you reached the roof you got to take the "express elevator" back to the
start point and recharge. It had a little "You Won ... until tomorrow
night!" sign at the end.

Damn I loved that "Extended Basic" cartridge... basic sounds, sprites,
"music" - even access to the speech synthesizer! So cool.
