I would go to Meijer's or Target who are more employee friendly and don't
contribute to causes I disagree with (though I am pretty miffed at target
right now over their support of anti-gay groups...so I haven't been there
for a while either) or even some of the discount stores in the area...even
Goodwill type stores carry clothes even cheaper and that goes to a good
cause even. I also go to farmer's markets to get local produce to reduce
what I am buying at the stores and once we get caught up on the bills, I'll
be getting my meat and produce (or most of it anyway) via a CSA (check out
localharvest.org).

To go on Sam and Jerry's logic...they can always go find a job somewhere
else. In fact, I would encourage them to. Isn't that supporting a free
market? Let's let the market take care of the bad guys. Isn't that a
libertarian's wet dream? Besides, I wouldn't work at Wal-mart if it was the
last job on the planet.

How else would you save money? Where I am, its Wal-Mart, Martin's or
Food Lion (Martin's and Food Lion are supermarket chains), or
convenience stores.

Tell me, where would you buy, say, a sweatshirt or pair of pants if
those were you only options? (Unless, of course, you wanted to drive
30 miles - which brings on added costs, adds to pollution, etc)

Like I said, I usually support local businesses, but when it gets to
be crunch time, you have to make some changes. At that point in time,
you need to do what you think is best for your family. And in my
opinion, its best if we can get the most bang for our buck. And,
around here, we can get the most bang for our buck at Wal-Mart.

On a side note - what about the people who work at Wal-Mart? Don't you
care about them? By not giving your business to Wal-Mart, you may be
hurting them as well. I know at least 6 people who work at Wal-Mart
part-time (on top of their full-time jobs) to make ends meet. By not
giving some business to Wal-Mart, those people could lose there jobs.
