Zawahiri has never been a leader in the Brotherhood as far as I'm aware. I believe that he splintered off and formed a radical islam group at a young age. I'm aware that he joined the Brotherhood when he was young but I don't believe that he was ever influential within the group. I mean, McVeigh was a Roman Catholic and a Republican. I don't think you can blame either of those groups for his bombings, he wasn't in charge of those groups.
