Yup...we slid down that slope in Vietnam and it snowballed into a disaster
real quick as a result. As soon as the enemy ceases to be fellow humans, we
all lose. Do we really want to be as bad as the guys putting our troops
through what Vietnam vets went through. Do we want to be as bad as the guys
beheading people in Iraq? There is a reason we need to take the high road
and not do that. The Geneva Conventions were a great step forward in
reducing some of the overkill like we saw in WWI. The fact that torture does
not produce reliable info is something that has been known for a very long
time....yet we still do it. Talk about the definition of insanity...

I think that this is an example of a leader who *thinks* he is putting his
career on the line to look out for his troops when really he is doing an
awful, immoral thing for reasons that don't stand up to the light of day
because he's lost his moral compass and got caught up in his own head games.

That's where we lose wars.
