Hmmm...I'm not disagreeing with you at all but I remember Jewish acquaintances telling 
me that being Jewish was not a
race.  As for Semites, AFAIK that is a lineage and a race.  Semites are descended from 
middle eastern people.

Of course, I'm no authority on any of this :-)
