I just heard that the same thing is on the rise in Ireland and that US tourists are starting to complain about occasional verbal abuse. This really is a saddening new departure because whatever about the stereotype of Irish friendliness to tourists, bad sentiment towards the US unheard of what with there being huge ties (mostly familial) to the US.
Anti-Iraq war sentiment seems to be in full swing in Europe.
