All of the satellites are insured, so the only real casualties are the 
stock-holders in the insurance companies.

All this crap about millions of dollars being shot into space is 
bunk.  That money never leaves earth.  It pays the employees and 
contractors of the space program, who put in right back into the economy.

The benefits of the space program far outweigh the costs, and always have.

If the government were serious about boosting the economy, the budget for 
space and scientific research would be increased dramatically and the 
entire focus of the economy would be on building better, more reliable 
transportation of all sorts, earth and space bound.
