Where this stands is that both local colleges have said he is too young for
admission, even non-degree. The woman at UNM also homeschools, and while
sympathetic pointed out that a lot of freshmen bomb out their first
semester without being 13 to add to their burdens. She suggested that a
private IT institute might be an alternative, since failure in a
certificate program would not go on his permanent college record. Research
continues. Another idea would be to take the game design/animation classes
myself.

Tribes itself does not appear to require calculus. However, I know that
when I was playing a lot of games I eventually always wound up wanting to
re-write them. So... maybe I will just have to think up a game with
realistic artillery scenarios. Medieval warefare maybe.
